Eggon live in the fertile plains of the Benoue Valley (Nigeria).
A few still live in mountains villages. The name Eggon refers to the hill where they settled before coming down to the plains.The word means "a good sense of hearing or perception ability". They call themselves Eggon but are known by the Hausa as Madan Dutse.
